a playful painting ..

This painting is based on words I wrote in my journal when I spent some vision time sitting out on our land here about 18 months ago  and  I did indeed write them inside a heart shape

When I came to turn this into a small painting last summer ,   I didn't look back at the original notebook  till the painting was nearly finished ..    and I found I had changed that last word from pray to PLAY ,  which was what had given me the way to finish the text & get ' out of the box'  ,  which is something I like about the painting ...    I can only conclude that my inner CLOWN knew better what was going on than I did ,  and I am ok with that :-)

Compassion Prayers

Compassion Prayers is the name of this painting .

I can't get the lines of this post to sit as I want ,  but here goes ..

It came about as a doodle in my sketchbook after a meditation time ..

I had been feeling how similar the energy seems to me of the Hawaiian ho'o'ponopono prayer  -
I love you ,  I'm sorry ,  Please forgive me ,   Thank you

and 2 Buddhist mantras -
the one of Green Tara -  om tare tutare  ture so ha

and the one of Chenrezig ,  or Avalokiteshvara -  om mani peme hung

and I saw that there was a way of drawing them out in this pattern.

It is a very powerful image for me ,  making that connection at a glance ,  and adding the spiral pattern just completed it ..

I had it set up with this candle at the time of this photo as an altar holding energy for the preparation of a big ceremony .

I share it in gratitude and as a blessing .

WORDING FOR LOCAL FAIR TRADE SHOP ..

I never posted about a commission I really enjoyed last year ..  for our wonderful local fair trade shop in Newcastle Emlyn - Fair and Fabulous .

( You can find out about them on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/fairandfab/?hc_ref=ARTIUN4lTcjevrfGD4MioLV3CepOO2m3QaI0jOiSvvyuZ4snameMQZlGpkzRsffqj7E )

They wanted to have something on the wall explaining the 10 principles of Fair Trade .  What they showed me online was very clunky ..   and I heard myself say " I could do better than that " ,  and so I landed myself in it ..
which I actually enjoyed.  As I wrote in previous  posts below ,  I have been exploring lettering ,  so here was a chance to use my new skills .
I came up with the idea of making the 10 sections into a circle in a square  ,  like  a clock face or a target.   That gave me a way of fitting in all the logos that were needed too ,  and then I took the colour scheme from the central logo  .  It was a challenge to fit all of that in ,  and I am pleased to hear that it has been a useful talking point in the shop ,  as  was hoped .

So big thanks to Gill & Lenshina for all their ongoing hard work in creating a great shop ,  and for giving me the opportunity ...

3 female goddesses ..

In this 4th and last post (for now  ) are 3 larger paintings that have emerged alongside the ones in the previous 3 posts ,  over recent months.  Like the other work ,  they couldn't grow without the support of my spirit teachers,   the support and  sharing of those i sit in circle with regularly,  and many soul feeding conversations with like - minded people   thank you all .

The 1st 2  arrived one after the other as a pair .  This 1st one  ' The song of connection '  started off very different ,  and was a real surprise in its final form, letting me know clearly when it wasn't right yet ..  and then when it was finally finished ,  as paintings often do . The eyes in the hands are a reminder  of Chenrezig ,  also known as Avalokiteshvara ,  the  all-seeing buddhist  god of compassion,  who has  11 heads and 1,000 hands with 1.000 eyes ,  and therewith enough compassion for the whole world ..

I was told that the next one,  a companion painting,  was called ' The dance of connection '  and it came in quite quickly ,  then stalled for weeks while i worked on others ,  and finally was finished only this week ..  and like those posted previously ,  it harks back to my vision quest day last year .  There's no knowing quite when those experiences will bear more fruit ,  they  pop back up and surprise you ..

And finally ,  this is what has become the third partner in this group of paintings.   Although started last ,  it was completed between the other 2 .  The initial drawing  came from a shamanic journey and is part of the answer to a question about the wild juicy nature of creativity  !  -   soon afterwards i realised she was demanding that  i develop her into a painting .  She is called ' The Creatrix '  and  also said to me 'You don't have like me ! ' ..

new lettering ..

this painting is another one  that came from my vision quest last year -  and the thoughts and words that came to me about being connected ,  by which i mean connected to spirit , to whatever you call the divine ,  that which is bigger than us ,  and holds us in love .  Always.

after the work i posted just before this , i realised i needed to explore lettering more creatively ,  which i am thoroughly enjoying .  It has opened a new world of options ,  lots more to learn ,  and allowed me a new playfulness  in completing this painting .. and will lead to more ..
once again the 2nd photo is to show the overlap round 1 of the edges .. (oh and the lines coming off the painting are just my hanging system )

Painting from a poem ...

This next post is about one painting -  which came about as a result of a retreat with fellow OneSpirit minister -  you know who you are .  We were read a poem called ' Meditation for  the fully realised woman '   by Karen Andes,  and asked afterwards to write down key words , or phrases ,that had stood out to us .    I did a drawing .  Which  later ,  back home in the studio , became this painting .  And then i did add a phrase from the poem round the edge of the canvas ...  all is in these photos ..drawing ..  1st stage of painting ,  finished painting ,  and text on the edges
